Book Reviews of Presumed InnocentBook Review: Dejas vu all over again Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased Scott Turow's latest work, "Innocent," with high expectations--perhaps too high. My only exposure to the previous book, "Presumed Innocent," was through frequent viewing of the film with Harrison Ford. But I thought it better to read the book on which the film was based before venturing into the follow-up.
It was perhaps because of my high expectations based on the film that I found the follow-up to be a little disappointing. Turow had a difficult challenge when he decided to write a sequel--which may be the reason it book so long. It is hard to top yourself, especially when you have constructed such a tight plot with interesting characters and a totally surprising ending.
The sequel struck me as overly complex with characters who weren't so interesting and an ending that left me a bit disappointed. But that's just me. Read it for yourself--but make sure you read "Presumed Innocent" first.
Book Review: Everyone's Reading Summary: 5 Stars
In Southeastern Michigan libraries participate in the "Everyone's Reading" program. This year Scott Turow's "Presumed Innocent" was selected and he will be here to speak in April. I watched the DVD last night and the book was better!! Phyllis Relyea
Book Review: Explicit sex Summary: 1 Stars
I am writing this review for those who don't care for explicit sex in novels. I'm sure there are much more graphic novels than this, but I didn't finish this one because of the detailed sexual descriptions. Needless to say, since I didn't finish it I can't rate the novel on its merits. If you don't mind the sex, you might enjoy this. If you do mind, skip this novel.
Book Review: Fabulous book Summary: 5 Stars
A great book. Characters are well developed and the writing is superb. I read it years ago when it first came out in paperback and recently read it again as a prerequisite for Turow's latest novel, Innocent. I enjoyed it more this time, as I was reading it on a Kindle and could easily look up a few unfamiliar words in the Kindle's dictionary.
Book Review: Good courtroom drama Summary: 3 Stars
This is my first Scott Turow book and I enjoyed it. I guessed the "who done it" way too early in the book, but there are enough angles to make it interesting and keep you second guessing. The court room dialogue was great. This book was written before DNA testing, which makes it a little more mysterious.
