Book Reviews of Prozac NationBook Review: A profound insight in to the honest use for Prozac Summary: 5 Stars
Prozac Nation provides a profound insight in to depression and all that it means to be depressed. The book takes you through the life of the heroine day by day and you actually feel that you are there with her. Real life situations are discussed and highlighted which provide the back drop for the psychological problems that are so very apparent from the beginning. The overwhelming purpose of this book, as far as I am concerned, is that depression is a debilitating and very serious condition.. Prozac is in the top 10 of most commonly prescribed drugs in the USA, and England. This is not right as severe depression is not that common. Prozac is being used as a "feel good" drug by the masses, whhich cheapens the true profile of depression. I feel that reading this book validates the real benefits that the drug can give truly depressed people. Those looking for a "quick fix" or weightloss...should look at taking much less extreem measures and stop abusing Prozac and cheapening the depressed state.
Book Review: A real, frank account of depression Summary: 5 Stars
Not your average sugar coated tale, she opens her heart to the readers and takes you into her personal battle.
Book Review: A ride to hell and back Summary: 5 Stars
As one being diagnosed with major depression single episode and anxiety disorder/social phobia, and having been presribed prozac as a result, I found Prozac Nation to be a very gripping and compelling account of one woman's seemingly neverending battle up with depression. Elizabeth Wurtzel's vivid and articulate description of her illness and her life gave me the very clear message that I was not alone and that no one who has depression, or any mental illness for that matter, should feel alone. Help is out there if one chooses to accept it. I find her to be an extremely brave person for being able to talk about her personal demons and experiences for all to read. Perhaps she means this confessional to be some sort of cathartic therapy for her. If so, I sincerely hope it has helped her, as I believe this book has helped me and has given me much to reflect upon. Thank you Elizabeth Wurtzel for writing this much needed book.

Book Review: A true insight to a world lead by drugs not understanding Summary: 5 Stars
A powerful book filled with the truth behind living with a mind altering drug to deal with depression/anxiety vs. learning to deal with "life". The auther is creative, sharp witted, and a really good writer. She stays to her point and really allows you, the reader, to join her in this endless up and down journey to prozac or not to prozac. Her struggled becomes so real and her honesty so inviting that you really feel you know her. This is truly a great book to read whether you have faced depression, know someone who has dealt with depression or just want to understand what life with prozac can be like. I leant a copy to a friend many years ago who was forced to go on prozac at a young age by her parents. When I met her she was a young adult battling life and trying to kick the prozac. She felt she couldn't be a good person unless on this drug and she felt very alone. She said the book gave her hope, keeped her company, and helped her find the inspiration she needed to kick prozac.
