Book Reviews of Puff the Magic DragonBook Review: Magical Summary: 5 StarsThis is the most beautifully illustrated Puff book I have seen in a long time. The content of the book is simply the words to the song, but is truly a wonderful gift for any age.
Book Review: A Big Hit Summary: 5 StarsI recently bought my 2 1/2 year old nephew a copy of this book for his birthday, and since then, my sister reports, he has asked for it approximately three times a night before bed! In addition to being one of my favorite children's songs ever in book form, the book has stunningly beautiful and absolutely adorable illustrations (my nephew points and says "Sad dragon!" every time we get to the page that shows Puff sadly slipping into his cave). It also has a lovely new take on the ending which, in my opinion, makes it much nicer for children to read, not having to end on a sad note. Absolutely wonderful.
Book Review: beautiful book Summary: 5 StarsLove the artwork in this book, it follows the song and the author adds a note about the original poem. Makes a great gift.
Book Review: Just as I imagined it Summary: 5 StarsI grew up with "Puff", but I never quite left that world of wonder behind. I had heard Peter Yarrow never permitted the story to be told in a book til now and seeing this edition, I'm very glad he waited.
Everything about the look and feel of the book speaks excellence and love of the work within. The illustrations are delightful, the poem with all its joys and sorrows is there for us to see.
Plus, they've given us a 4-song CD, including "Puff the Magic Dragon" in both sung and instrumental versions, "Froggy Went a 'Courtin'" and "Blue Tail Fly." Since I have these songs on other recordings, I have not removed them from the book for fear of damaging the interior binding.
"Puff the Magic Dragon" is a great book to introduce young children to the story and older fans who have grown up loving the song will enjoy the book as well.
Book Review: Memories of the 60s Summary: 5 StarsMy grandchildren love this book, because we can sing it to them. We always loved Peter, Paul & Mary. Our kids knew Puff the Magic Dragon from grade school on and finally saw Peter, Paul & Mary at Wolf Trap, Virginia, when in grade school and were surprised at all of us adults in the audience that could sing this song together with this legendary folk trio. It's such a thrill to pass this beautiful song on. I've made it a baby gift to others. The CD is so fun too.
