Book Review: 4 out of 5 stars, but weak ending!

There's a Douglas Adams story about a culture in which a book is a certain number of words, no fewer than that numerical target and no more.
This reader has the decided impression that something like that idea was governing the author of 'Pushing Ice' - an otherwise brilliant SciFi story that i reccommend to every SciFi Fan! Be honest, even those who enjoy a good techno-thriller are advised to seriously consider this against the works of dale brown, steven coonts & tom clancy!
For 90% of the book, the story is a compelling page-turner, the characters believeable and have depth, - the reader has the sense that you're right alongside, watching the events as they unfold!
In other words -the first 90% is exemplary as the author's craft at his best.
Then he goes and throws it away in the last ten percent by just 'giving up'. Did he write without having a clear ending in mind, or did he just get fed up with the project? Or does it show really really bad editing by his publisher?
Whichever, it's really not important. The story IS important. It works on a multitide of levels and shuld be made into a movie. But with a more satisfying conclusion. Read this book!
