Book Reviews of Queen of SwordsBook Review: Great series keeps getting better. Summary: 5 Stars
If you are a fan of Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series, you will really enjoy Sara Donati's series that begins with Dawn on the Distant Shore. Queen of Swords is the fifth book in the series, detailing the lives of the Bonner family in 1814, in the midst of the British/American war of 1812 and it's complications to their family. Highly enjoyable and very hard to put down!
Book Review: It is what it is. Summary: 5 Stars
You got to love a woman who has no problem killing. You will find that Donati has no problem killing characters that need to die. Sometimes it takes too long for her to kill them. She puts you deeply into the many places you travel up and down the Mississippi. Though at times her descriptions can go on and on it's still worth reading.
Love this author she is a true favorite.
Book Review: Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
Loved this lastest installment in the series. It's a different setting than the previous books, and is Hannah's, Jennet's and Luke's story. Some people have disliked the book because of that and the change in setting, but it didn't bother me at all. There's no Elizabeth or Curiosity, though we see them mentioned through letters and memories. Nathaniel and Bears make a big appearance about three quarters of the way through the book, which I enjoyed. It was nice to get more insight into Hannah's past (after her marriage, but before her return home) and to see her be able to move past it to happiness again. Looking forward to the next book!
Book Review: Not the same Summary: 2 Stars
I loved the first four books, but this one flies by without even simple characterization. Their thoughts and feelings are glanced over, and motivations are neglected. It just doesn't make sense.
If I didn't already love these characters, I wouldn't even bother.
Book Review: Queen of Swords Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent read. This is the latest in a series of great books by Sara Donati. READ THEM ALL!
