Book Review: Creative, Quick RAW Food in FL! Summary: 5 StarsAs a RAW foodist, I have a ton of RAW recipe books and love making creative dishes. Bryan's book offers quick and easy ways to make "cheese," dressings, and others that taste good. I especially like the Sweet Mustard Dressing! I look forward to his next book coming out soon... :0)
Book Review: Comprehensive - Easy To Follow - Fresh & Fun Guide! Summary: 5 StarsI am a fan of Bryan Au ever since picking up a copy of Raw in Ten Minutes. There is an instant appeal for me as a chef to a book like this. Any shortcuts to allow for one to have time left over for other enjoyable activities is a plus. What amazes me is how delicious these recipes are and how simple they are to prepare. The start-up costs are reasonable for eating this way and the benefits are innumerable. Bryan really helps the reader to feel right at home as though we are transported to his kitchen and from here, our creativity soars. This book would be an excellent resource to anyone on a path toward health and healing and its fun nature is uplifting and valuable even to the well seasoned Chef. This is especially so as I thought 'I knew it all," and now I am happy to be one of the many 'Rawk Stars' touched and inspired by Bryan Au's creativty and bliss food consciousness.
Book Review: Delicious Recipes! Summary: 4 StarsThis is a terrific book that is fun and easy to read and loaded with useful information about the raw food lifestyle. I have tried many of the recipes and they are great!
Book Review: This is a great book! You will enjoy it! Summary: 4 StarsI am fairly new to the raw foods movement and style of diet. However, I am not new to the health movement so I have read many health books as well as books on dietary plans. What struck me most when I picked up this book is written from the heart. The author is so enthusiastic about raw that it's impossible to not be positively affected by reading this book.
When you are 'craving' something from your pre-raw days such as tacos, nachos, lasagne, cheesecake, etc., this is the book to go to I believe! I especially enjoyed the recipes for the tostadas. The author is very creative (I never thought to use cabbage leaves for the 'shell'!). This innovative mindset is prevalent throughout the book. Even my non-raw husband enjoyed and loved the raw oreo recipe.
The recipes are quick, easy, healthy, and fun to make. I have not purchased a powerful blender or food processor yet, but I was able to use my own standard blender to make all of the recipes without any problems. (However, I do plan on getting a food processor soon).
The nice thing, in my opinion, about the recipes is that they are great for the creative, right-brained cook who wants to be able to 'customize' the recipes. Therefore, I had no problems that a few of the recipes did not specify 'exact' quantities of ingredients. Just add a little until you like the taste. I really believe that cooking (or 'rawking' as I call it as a raw devotee) should be fun and not stressful. That is what Bryan brings to the raw movement: Fun and joy!
Another positive aspect to this cookbook is that it is just full of resources to support your raw lifestyle. I like buying cookbooks too from individuals who have a planetary consciousness and a sincere, genuine interest in helping others. This book is not Atkins, South Beach, or the Zone--thank goodness! The book has helped me discover a way to eat for myself that works. I use other raw cookbooks in addition to this one and have created a customized eating plan that has given me much energy, health, and a sense of joy in my heart.
There are very few 'errors' in this book in my opinion. You can easily determine what to do and where to go without a tedious search. Hence, I found the book very user-friendly.
One caution about the recipes is that there ARE oils and nuts utilized in them. However, not everyone has difficulties with assimilating these items. I myself do not eat them for every meal, so I am fine making one recipe from this book a day or every other day. Variety is the spice of life--this is why it's so fun to have a big number of recipes to choose from in your collection.
I highly recommend adding this book to your raw cookbook library. You will enjoy it immensely and find that it enriches your body, mind, and spirit.
Enjoy!
Best wishes for health and healing!
