Book Review: Super Thriller with a Scary Body Jumping Demon too!

RAGGED MAN is actually the first of Jack Priest's three books to date, but I'd read the other two before getting around to it. But that didn't ruin the enjoyment I got out of this one. Though all three, RAGGED MAN, GECKO & NIGHT WITCH sort of take place in the same two Northern California towns and though there are a few clever references to the other books in the second two, all three of Mr. Priest's scary stories are stand alone thrillers.
That said, let me tell you a tiny bit about RAGGED MAN. Rick Gordon and his wife Anne stumble upon a pair of dying Aborigines in Australia and their spirits, which are good, move into the Gordon's, though they don't know this. When they return to America they are followed by a demon spirit who inhabits bodies in the same way the Gordon's have become hosts for the good spirits. The bad spirit uses the bodies it inhabits to kill many of Rick's friends, including his wife. Rick knows about the spirit stories, as his wife, who believes, has told him, but he is a non-believer, however as more and more of his loved ones are killed, he begins to believe and to fight back.
That's a brief synopsis of the first part of the story. It's one I really liked, but I've liked Mr. Priest's other books, so I wasn't surprised. I was surprised at the ending though and I think you will be too. If you haven't read Jack Priest yet, I think you should give him a try.
