Book Review: A Dimwit's "Reason to be happy" Fest

Rang De Basanti is a film about a gang of guys who're hardly patriotic at all. A British 20-something year old foreigner comes visiting cause she wants to make a documentary on India's freedom fighters. She interviews a lot of youth at Delhi University, much confusion follows the rather irritating screenplay. She finally chooses a bunch of illiterate Ex-university students. Amir Khan has never been more irritating. His much forced accent, no reason to be happy "happy" attitude, fake crying, insufficient chracter depth, random dialogues, semi-abuseful drunk nature doesn't really entertain me.
I don't think I can take Rang De Basanti seriously. It contains incongruous social morality. Within a matter of days "Rebels without a cause" think they have some sort of duty towards the country and in turn, kill a certain minister. There is nothing heroic about this film, when everything is done on impulse and lack of direction - caused by much boredom, the film stands nowhere to earn.
This film did very well. I shudder to think how every friend of mine, well almost every friend, failed to see how sad and stupid it is. The editing was pathetic, a lot of choppy illogical scenes here and there, there were two scenes in the film that made me laugh. Sadly, noone else laughed in those scenes.
It is not like I don't have a sense of humor and it doesn't take a lot for me to be influenced but a film of this league SHOULD HAVE been around thrice as hard-hitting. It falls flat on it's face as far as making a remote statement in concerned.
I lost respect for Amir Khan, which he thankfully regained after I watched Fanaa. This is by far his worst film. I not only disliked this film, but I grew to hate it with the ra-ra over it and his performance. Amir Khan,is and will always be a Mumbai'ite with a big heart. Making him a Ludhiana accented Delhi'ite is rather a tomfool's shot at being creative. Should I blame the long haired director then?
If someone told you, this is the film of the year, then please slap them for me.
