Book Review: A War Story with Heart and Humor
Summary: 5 Stars
Fred Salter tells a compelling story, full of laughter and tears. I split my sides laughing about the naive young soldier who spent a night in an Arab whorehouse in North Africa. Then I cried over the anguish of a good and decent man, driven to the brink of madness by war. Salter puts the reader inside the skin of a soldier who is both heroic and flawed. After reading Recon Scout, I now better understand the father, grandfather and uncles who could never talk about their war experiences.
