The Red Tree is a fiction book, written by Shaun Tan it is a book that not only can be read by children but all ages. Yes, there are small words and big illustrations but when you analyse the picture you will discovery many meaning to the book.
The themes are seen in the illustration and the text of the book. There are a range of themes that are shown in the book, and they are depression, sadness, loneliness and no hope. But by the end of the book you see that there is a theme of hope and patience.
When you finish reading this book you see that there was one specific problem, and that was that the girl was very lonely and sad and had nothing to look forward to. The book is trying to address us by saying that how lonely you are or how sad you are by the end of the day there will be happiness and hope.
The young girl goes through many scenarios of being lonely and sad in a very dull environment. But as she gets towards the end of the day she sees that the day doesn't have to end up as how the day began. But by the end of the day she discoveries a beautiful thing in her room, that symbolizes happiness, hope and life.
The book is an interesting and memorable book. It is not a book that you would read every day, but it is a book that when you read it for the first time it is interesting and memorable.
The does have some agreements and disagreements. What I agree to in the book is that, sometimes the day is miserable and sad but by having some patience and hope there will be some piece of happiness. However, what I disagree with is that the book should not have been written or read to children because it is a depressing book and it may affect some children in many ways.
Some possibilities that the book suggests is that the day wont end up as a sad and depressing day but will end up with at least some hope and happiness.
The book didn't affect me that much, it just made me think back to all the other days when I was miserable and didn't think that by the end of the day it will all came to happiness. Except for some people it may affect them in other ways.
The Red Tree is a book that is interesting and memorable and is a book with a range of themes and emotions that do relate to our lives at one stage. I recommended this book to all ages as the book can be analysed in many angles and ways in the illustration and text.
