Book Reviews of Remember Me?Book Review: Couldn't put it down - left me craving more!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have read all of Sophie Kinsella's books (those under the pen name Kinsella, and a couple of hers under her given name, Madeleine Wickham) and for those who are avid fans of the Shopaholic series and any of Kinsella's other novels, this one does not disappoint. The only disappointment that I have is that the book isn't twice as long!!! It truly left me wanting more at the end.
I don't generally consider myself a "chick lit" (or Brit chick lit) reader, but Sophie Kinsella has a way of immersing her readers fully into her characters.
After reading one of the prior reviews, I would say that a reader who is not familiar with Kinsella's writing may not like this as much as the Shopaholic books, but if you are able to separate your expectations from the character of Becky Bloomwood, this one is definitely a must-read. Lexi is just as endearing (and in less of a shopaholic way) as Becky.
Wish there would be a sequel!!! I don't know what it would be about, though. :)
Book Review: Couldn't put it down! Summary: 4 Stars
Another great book by Kinsella--I couldn't put it down and spent a whole day on the couch. I subtracted one star simply because it's hard for any of her other books to measure up to the Shopaholic. :)
Book Review: Definitely Worth Remembering! Summary: 4 Stars
I am a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella, and while the Shopaholic series still remains high on my list of favorite "chic lit" books, I find the books where Sophie departs from Becky Bloomwood to be thoroughly enjoyable. Waking up in a hospital bed, as a virtual stranger to even to yourself and not knowing what happened during the last three years of your life, is enough to push anyone over the edge. I often wonder how much stress a person must endure to send them into a state of amnesia, and perhaps it is Lexi's work, and her loveless marriage that subconsciously makes her want to forget those three years...regardless, the book provides great insight into how quickly life can change, and the paths that each of us take to get from point A to point B. Despite everything, Lexi eventually found her way and was a much better person for it, in the end.
Book Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
I loved Kinsella's previous novels, Can You Keep A Secret, Undomestic Goddess, Shopaholic & Sister, and Shopaholic & Baby. They kept me laughing all the way through and they showed a clueless yet funloving protaganist female character. Remember Me comes across with a great plot, but it just isn't as good as previous Kinsella novels. I didn't enjoy the profanity, the infidelity, or the coldness of the characters in this story. It lacked an easy going quality that most Kinsella novels have as well as humor. I hope Kinsella's next book will be as good as previous novels because I'd rather forget her current book.
Book Review: Dissapointed Summary: 3 Stars
I was little dissapointed, not near as entertaining as Becky. I was expecting more comedy, which is what I have come to expect from Ms Kinsella's books. Still I was hooked till the pleasant end.
