Book Reviews of Remember Me?

Book Review: A fast read for the beach, lazy day or the unemployed.
Summary: 2 Stars

The story line was trite and sophomoric. When it is appropriate to the character and plot I am not averse to reading curse words in books. However I found the author's over use of dropping "F-Bombs" off putting. It made me cringe to see it used so often. (Besides, there are some great curse words that don't employ the use of F-word.) I found the characters of Fi and Amy to be the most appealing. The scene where Amy is found to be "knicking" stuff from Lexi's home to be very funny.

Book Review: A fun book to put a smile on your face
Summary: 4 Stars

This book was a lot of fun to read. Lexi was such a fun character who at first appears to have gotten the dream transformation. I know I always pictured myself losing two clothing sizes, having perfect teeth, a handsome husband and a career on the fast track. But this book really makes you think if that is what is most important. The relationship between Lexi and Eric was so dysfunctional it was funny and I was rooting for Jon the whole time. I'm glad Lexi ended up sticking it to all the jerks at her company in the end and only wish I could have seen their reaction after they found out what Lexi achieved. Definitely recommend this as a put a smile on your face read.

Book Review: Another great Kinsella read
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been a fan of Sophie Kinsella for years, ever since her Shopaholic books found their way into my life. They were my first experience with Chick Lit, and continue to be the books I use when trying to explain the genre to someone who has no clue.

That being said, Remember Me? was another Kinsella hit. I was a bit skeptical of the plot - a woman who has lost her memory, forced to figure out what has gone on in the past three years and survive the life she created. It sounded as though I would be able to guess the plot changes, but I was pleasantly surprised. Kinsella did a good job of adding in slight twists that urged me to continue reading (rather than assume the same old same old would be happening). I love her writing style, and the ending left me satisfied without being totally predictable. The character development was pretty good, though I did question how quickly some of the previous "friends" changed their attitudes - I haven't been in that particular situation, though, so I can't judge it too much.

Book Review: Been Done But Still Is Fun
Summary: 5 Stars

Though the theme is familiar (someone undergoing a transformation in personality because of something that happens, coupled with the ugly duckling transformation/underdog) the book still works because it so well presented and often has you laughing at parts.

In this book the catalyst is Lexi being injured and waking up a couple of years later to find everything has changed, family, friends and her looks. No longer an ugly duckling she is now pretty.

Of course she needs to try to figure everything out, bth who she was and what she is now. Great read in the genre and theme.

Book Review: Couldn't Put it Down!
Summary: 5 Stars

I own and have read all of Sophie Kinsella's books, and this woman has yet to disappoint me. Her writing is so funny and sharp, and her characters are always so realistic, even the over-the-top ones, like Lexi's husband, Eric. I found myself in Lexi's position, wanting to love Eric, but ending up completely repulsed, and vice versa with Jon. I also loved the added twist of all her BFF's hating her, but having her win them back. The scene with the muffin basket is unforgettable!

Ms. Kinsella, if you're reading this (doubtful!), you're my absolute hero!
