Book Reviews of Remember Me?Book Review: Must read for Sophia Kinsella fans! Summary: 5 Stars
I have read all of Sophia Kinsella's books and this one was just as great as the others. Fun and fast read. I couldn't put it down.
Book Review: My first Kinsella book Summary: 3 Stars
My husband gave this to me for Christmas along with a bunch of other books. The first third of the book was very clever and I enjoyed the plot. As you've read from other reviewers, Lexi wakes up from a car crash and can't remember the previous three years. In that time she's moved up the corporate ladder, married a gorgeous billionaire, and thinks her life is going to be perfect. It does some plot changes that made me think I was reading a female version of the movie Regarding Henry. However, I really enjoyed the end of the book. Due to the plot being slightly unoriginal as well as the writing technique, I don't rate it very high. But, if you want a light fun read this is a good one. I don't think I would personally have picked it out of a book store for myself but at least it was entertaining.
Book Review: Not What I Was Expecting Summary: 4 Stars
I've read most of the Shopaholic books, so I was naturally expecting "Remember Me?" to be a funny book. Surprisingly, it isn't. I don't think I laughed at all. The story is kind of flat. Even though the premise of the book is intriguing--the main character has a car accident and loses all memory of the last three years--not a whole lot happens. Also, the characters are hard to relate to. I love Becky Bloomwood of the Shopaholic series because she's quirky and naive. Lexi Smart, the title character in "Remember Me?," is not nearly as well drawn as Becky. I couldn't really relate to her, or to any of the characters. While her gorgeous, millionaire husband turns out to be not-so-perfect, I couldn't see what drew her to Jon. He's a nice guy, I presume, but he comes across as flat, like everyone else in this book.
But despite these misgivings, I'm giving this book 4 Stars because I think Sophie Kinsella is a very talented writer. I also give her a lot of credit for not wrapping up all the loose ends and for not turning this into a happily-ever-after fairy tale.
Book Review: Not as good as I thought it would be Summary: 3 Stars
After reading a couple of very serious books I was looking for something light and fun to cheer me up and was recommended this Sophie Kinsella's book. I've never read any of her works and didn't expect too much. However I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. It was an easy and fast read, mostly entertaining, but not very funny or original. Nevertheless I did somewhat enjoy the book and will give SK another chance. Maybe her Shopaholic series is better?
Book Review: Not as good as the others Summary: 3 Stars
The character is not as likeable as Kinsella's others so I had a hard time attaching to her. The book is just not as entertaining as Can You Keep a Secret? or the Shopaholic books. I was turned off in the first chapter when the mother calls someone "retarded". I admit that as a mother of a daughter with Down Syndrome, I'm very sensitive about hearing others use this word as a synonym for "stupid"
