Book Reviews of ReplayBook Review: Intriguing, in-depth tale exploring multiple possibilities. Summary: 5 StarsWhen Jeff Winston dies and awakens in his college dorm room the first time he has no idea what is happening to him. Although he gets little in the way of answers over his multiple lifespans he does find one thing to be true -- we always have much more than one choice in the direction we can take our lives.
Ken Grimwood does an excellent job of exploring life's multiple avenues. His focus on a specific 25-year time span allows him to do so in a completely believable manner. Reading Replay will surely send you to your own youth, memories and choices made. Which of us wouldn't liketo see what would happen if we'd just...
Book Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 StarsI first read this book 5 years ago. Since then I picked it up in various libraries, but couldn't find it in a bookstore. After discovering Amazon.com, this book was in my first order. Something about it just struck a cord with me. Maybe it is the fact that the characters are so real. Real people with real failings dealing with problems that are out of the ordinary. Highly recommended
Book Review: WOW! Summary: 5 StarsEleanor Roosevelt was right!
"The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams". Read and believe. You'll never regret it. You'll never forget it. You'll feel haunted forever and never want the feeling to go away. Yes, its exactly that good. I too have bought several copies, all before AMAZON was even carrying it...before they knew they could even locate it. I forgive all who have not returned my older copies, for this is truly a concept for the ages. Good literature does not have to begin with the Bible, be serious in purpose, or be written by people who have either one name or legendary PR basckups!
Literature, like art, is simply a form of artistic endeavor which evokes a response. If you disagree, then read the reviews below. If you agree, then do yourself a favor. Forget today's trials and woes for a few hours and just believe. Just as Chicken Little only had to be right once, so did Cinderella, Prince Charming and Ross Perot. [Yes, Ross Perot. He may be the wrong man, but he had the right message].
To say the book appeals to a 'cult following' is to demean a fine read and a wonderfully imaginative writer. Indeed, the only way any of us could have done better would have reqired us either to be Ken Grimwood, or to relive our lives again! VOILA!
Just go buy it already.
Book Review: In a word... "OUTSTANDING!" Summary: 5 StarsReplay is one of the top 5 books I have ever read and I really can't say I have enjoyed another book more. The replaying concept is very compelling as are the various problems associated. Problems you and I might never have conceived. This book is a must read for anyone and everyone.
For those of you looking for a similarly outstanding read check out Memoirs of an Invisible Man by H.F. Saint.
Book Review: Absolutely the best "alternate reality" book ever published. Summary: 5 StarsThis book unlike any other encourages the reader to really examine his or her life in a totally unique situation. What would you do if you got a second, third or fourth chance to live your life over. The heartbreak of losing children, wives, fortunes made and lost and ultimately of being bored with quite literally "nothing new under the sun". Even though I read this book when it was initially released in hardcover, have read it 8-10 times since, have 2 first edition copies and numerous paperback copies, I still find the concept of replaying your life one of the most fascinating and compelling ideas ever envisioned. Hardly a week goes by when I'm not thinking of this idea. This book brings home the reality of winning the "Grand Lotto", what would you do with all that wealth, and in this case a whole new life or series of lives. An outstanding read! This is the book you've looked your whole life to find
