Book Reviews of Rescue MeBook Review: Great book! Summary: 5 Stars
This was an amazing book, the only thing I would complain about is that the three stories didn't last long enough! The first and third stories felt a little rushed to me. The second was definitely my favorite. All the characters were strong, and the stories were very well written. I actually bought this book for Lora leighs story alone (she is my favorite author) but i fell in love with the other two stories as well. All in all its a good romantic suspense book!
Book Review: HOT HOT HOT Summary: 5 Stars
OK - I'll admit - I bought the Kindle version strictly for Macey's story by Lora Leigh .... totally worth it ... if your a reader of Ms. Leigh's Tempting SEALs books ... you won't be disappointed
Book Review: No rescue needed from this anthology! Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this collection! The only downside I found was it's too short.
1) Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair ***** - This was the first story I've read from Ms. Adair, but based on it I'll be looking for more of her stories. I was left with the impression that this was part of a larger series, however it is still able to stand alone. A perfect balance of action and romance.
2) Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh ***** - This is part of her "Tempting SEALs" series. Like the rest of the series, this book is steamy and thrilling. The only complaint is that the "whodunit" part of the book wasn't fully self-supporting. There just wasn't enough information for someone who hadn't read the other books in the series. Even so, I've never been dissappointed with a Lora Leigh title, and this one lives up to her others.
3)Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard ***** - This story was a little out of sync with the other two titles in that the first two featured true rescue scenerios, this one focused on two people getting out of danger together. DH was a great read by another new-to-me author. I'm very interested in reading more by Ms. Gerard.
Overall a great book with three exciting stories. Definately worth checking out.
Book Review: One of the better antholgies Summary: 4 Stars
I like to read anthologies every now and then in between books and this collection is defiantly one of the better collections.
The first novella is Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair and is IMHO the weakest one of the three stories in this book - and that says a lot because I would rate it with 4 stars
Elizabeth Goodall is a doctor in a small town in Montana and is being kidnapped by some terrorists while being on a seminar in South Africa. Sam Pelton is an instructor for a counterterrorist organization (I'm guessing T-FLAC) and lives in the same town as Elizabeth. This is why I didn't like the book too much. Apparently Sam wanted Elizabeth for roughly 2 years and now that she got kidnapped he decides to rescue her and make a move on her. And of course Elizabeth had a crush on him as well . I understand that it's hard to get the whole romance thing across when you only have 100 pages but I feel like being robbed out of the whole chemistry and getting to know each other . Around half of the story revolves around Sam rescuing Elizabeth and fighting off the bad guys which didn't help getting the love story across either. But the story was well written and the hero and the heroine were likeable and it was still better than a lot of other novellas I read before.
The second story is Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh and the best one in this book. It is part of Leigh's Tempting Seal series and stars one of the guys who appears in the previous books: Macey March . Even though he knows and lusts over the heroine Emerson Delany since years as well it is done a lot better than Tropical Heat. The reason is that the rescue plot takes up maybe four pages and the rest of the story is about Em and Macey hiding out in Maceys "cave". Because of that there is much more romance and chemistry going on since the whole action plot takes the backseat. And since it's Lora Leigh writing this book I probably don't have to mention that it's smoking hot!
And last but not least there is Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard. This story is about Elena Martinez, a D.A. and Seth King, a police officer, who go on a charity hiking tour through the Grand Canyon together. I liked this story because Seth and Elena knew each other before but they didn't like each other . During the hike they see a different site of each other and decide that they can't live without each other. Ok granted, that came a little abrupt but it still worked. Of course there is also a villain in this story as well. Seth and Elena helped convicting the son of a drug lord who died later in prison. So now the drug lord is out there to get them and the hike is his perfect opportunity. The action in this book is pretty well written but sometimes a little over the top (all Im going to say is Rock and Helicopter) .
Book Review: Rapids and mosquitoes and snakes, oh my! Summary: 4 Stars
Three exciting stories of danger, action and repressed desire explode from the pages of Rescue Me.
Topical Heat - takes the reader to a hot steamy jungle filled with bugs, snakes and terrorists all bent on destroying a lovely GP from Montana who finds herself rescued by her neighbor and part time teacher. She thinks he is a nice guy but what is he doing in the jungle looking like GI Joe
Atlanta Heat - has the Navy Seals vs evil commando gun runners and an innocent woman caught in the crossfire. It also has one of the more interesting love triangle: a girl, a guy and his snake.
Desert Heat - might better have been titled Canyon of Heat. Set in the Grand Canyon on a charity hike a dueling DA and cop square off against nature, drug lords and each other
What all three of these tales have in common is a heroine and hero who have lusted silently after each other for months, years even. Each afraid to make the first move. The fear and adrenaline of the kidnapping push them into each others' arms and the fulfillment of those unspoken desires.
If I have one criticism of these stories is that it is difficult to believe that these couples find romance when they are covered with DEET, bugs and leeches. Or that having a large snake wrapped around your leg isn't a real turn off. And finally how does one find pleasure when every bone in your body is aching because you just jumped off a cliff?
Read the book and find out.
