Book Review: A New Book by the CHB

Crazy Carl Everett wasn't the most beloved of Red Sox players, but he left us a legacy when he told Gordon Edes of the Boston Globe to "Get out of here and take your Curly-Haired Boyfriend with you." Thus Carl left us with the much used nickname for Dan Shaughnessy, the nastiest sportswriter the newspapers of Boston have ever produced. In the tradition of Colonel Dan Egan of the old Record American, the CHB believes it's his job to rip all things Red Sox. He is most infamously known for his creation of the myth "The Curse of the Bambino" in his previous "book" of that name.
As every good Red Sox fan knows, beating the Yankees and sweeping the series over the Cards did not break the curse, it proved that there never was a curse. It was all made up by the CHB for the greater glory (and remuneration) of himself. In that previous book, the CHB portrays Red Sox fans as pathetic losers who secretly hope that the Red Sox will lose in the end. Nothing could be further from the truth. But the truth is something that the CHB respects quite a bit, because he uses it only on special occasions.
There is no doubt that this new book (one of many that will come out on the 2004 Red Sox) will be nothing but a rehash of the same old tired curse story. Save your money and buy the new book that is coming out by Leigh Montville.
