Book Review: Ok, but a little tuff to follow... better book available

This book does include a lot of rhythms (70) but for me was not as well organized and pressented as the "Chord Progressions for Guitar" by Tom Kolb also sold on Amazon.
Fall short examples:
- In this book, the chords are not shown as regular diagrams but instead written out on the staff with tab underneath to show the string and fret. Under this model, there is no space left to show helpful things like suggested fingerings and it's slow going to read this notation to figure out what voicing they want you to use.
- The cd - as promised - does play each sample in 3 ways: 1. rhythm with a band backing, 2. just the band alone so you can do the rhythm, 3. just the guitar rhythm slowed down. But it plays these 3 variations in that exact order on a single track for each sample. This makes it hard to work with. It would have helped if at least the "slow" samples had been isolated, as the strum directions are not notated and it's hard to follow what the expected result should be at full speed on many of these.
Bottom line: To be honest, I put this book aside after dealing with the more tedious notation for a couple of days and finding the voicings and rhythms provided didn't seem worth the higher overhead of effort. I switched to the Tom Kolb book I listed above, as it was much better organized and provided narratives about each style sample (another thing this book does not do).
