Book Reviews of Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever (Giant Golden Book)

Book Review: It really IS the BEST word book ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I LOVE this book! I had it when I was a child. My favorite word in it is on the kitchen page "Batter Spoon"!!!

Book Review: Learning the English language
Summary: 5 Stars

Although a bit outdated (unless it has been updated), this was my children's first language book. We shared it, section by section, and it is fairly extensive,to teach our babies what the words were for the numerous items illustrated. The pictures are fun enough to catch the eye of a little one, and after reading it to him, long before the baby could speak, he could point to the object I named. It was later that he could do the opposite, I would point and he would name. While many babies under a year are responsive to this, I have been in training sessions for preschool and elementary teaching that recommends this book as still the best one available for helping younger children trying to learn English as their second language. Thus it is good for a wide range of ages. We wore ours out years ago, so I had to buy this one new for my first granddaughter. It is not a "board book", so not one to leave alone with the child. It takes both adult and baby and makes learning language fun.

Book Review: Love it!
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a favorite book of mine growing up. I just bought it for my 21 month old son, and he loves it as well!! A classic that every child should have!

Book Review: Mr. Scarry, you taught us so much!
Summary: 5 Stars

Mr. Scarry created one of the best children's books of all time with "The Best Word Book Ever." I am now in my late 20's, and still fondly remember sitting quietly for hours as a preschooler and kindergardener enthralled by this book. The illustrations were so creative that I envisioned the small town with winding roads and rivers, the multistoried houses with all of their interesting contents. Each page is packed with vocabulary and intricate illustrations that children can look at for hours. I plan on giving this book to as many children in my family as I can. Mr. Scarry's title is the truth!

Book Review: My 18 mo old's favorite book
Summary: 5 Stars

My son loves this book. He leafs through the pages, studying the pictures, and he loves to point at items and say the name. He loves this book so much that we also purchased Scarry's "Things That Go" which he loves even more!
