Book Review: An outstanding book on manners for children

Our daughters had this book when they were children in the late 70's and it was always one of their favorites; they still talk about it now (late 20's and early 30's). We have just bought a new copy for our recently born grand-daughter and are sure she will love it just as much. Many of our friends are familiar with this book, especially all the 'Pests' so brilliantly portrayed.Book Review: "He's the tops

I can't get enough Richard Scary books for my grandchildren. The books are pointed to real situations or lessons, and they are written in a manner that doesn't bore the adult to tears. In fact, I used to love going through the original "Best Word Book" before it was revised to be politically correct. Newer versions have lost some of the suble humor (the bear dressed as an Indian holding an ice cream cone for the "i" on the alphabet pages).
Nonetheless, the Scary books are gentle, educative and entertaining. What more could you want?

I read it so long ago that I actually forgot why I was not so impressed and I already gave the book away to my grandkids so I actually can't peek at it again. I think I recall not caring for the pictures. The choice of animals were not friendly or pleasant. I usually love Richard's books.Book Review: Traditional manners

My 2-year-old daughter loves Richard Scarry books, and this one is no exception. It's positive reinforcement of the manners we are teaching her, from a source she likes!
