Book Reviews of Riptide (FBI Series)Book Review: Entertaining, but predictable and sometimes painful Summary: 3 Stars
I listened to this book on tape as I drove on a weekend trip. It kept my interest for the most part, although some of my time was spent counting the number of times events in the book happened "suddenly" AND "without warning", and attempting to piece together the huge holes in the plot. I know it's fiction, but I really disliked the heroine's complete refusal to have any information withheld from her (for example, CIA and FBI classified info), however, she felt free to withhold crucial info from her fiance at the end of the book. Annoying!
Book Review: For the love of God, make it stop! Summary: 1 Stars
Having invested three weeks of my life to get through 250 pages of this drivel, I am forcing myself to finish it because... oh hell, I don't know why I'm bothering. After reading the other less than stellar reviews posted here, I think I'll put my time to better use cleaning the rain gutters. The dialog is HORRIBLE! I spent most of the past two weeks thumbing back to see if I missed something or to decipher who was speaking (and to whom!). And don't even get me started on the plot. Or should I write "plots" because there are approximately 17 of them going at once. My mom gave me this book to read, perhaps in retaliation for my teen years...
Book Review: I Can't Believe I Read the WHOLE Thing! Summary: 1 Stars
This book was TERRIBLE! I don't know why I bothered to finish it. The premise wasn't bad to begin with, but the plot was disorganized to me. People and events just sort of appeared from nowhere, like they were thrown in randomly. However, my major complaint was the dialog. It was flat, repetitive, and didn't do a lot to either move the plot forward or develop the characters. Some of it was just stupid. For example "I know I'm not dead beacuase I would kill for some water. And I don't believe that if someone is dead, she's particularly thirsty. May I please have some water?" The attempts at "witty banter" or "romantic antagonism" just didn't ring true at all. I've read a few of her other suspense/ romance novels, and I don't remember them being this stilted. I definitely don't recommend spending your money on this book -- borrow it from the library.
Book Review: I LOVED IT! Summary: 5 Stars
I read most of the reviews, after I read this book and yes the story line and the plot was a little far fetched, but that's what makes it fun to read. When I read a book I want to forget reality! I thought this book was fun, cute and sexy. It kept me in suspense from the minute I picked it up, until the very end. And, even with all the characters throw in the mix, I didn't find it hard to follow at all. I didn't want to part with this book. Yes I'll admit it, I was sad when I finished it!...
Book Review: I can't believe how awful this book is Summary: 1 Stars
I came to this site about 10 chapters in, just to see if anybody else felt the same way I did about this book. Thank god I'm not the only one who thought this book was awful! I found it had no flow what-so-ever, I found her writing style very hard to follow, the characters meant nothing to me, and I did'nt really care what happened to them. I finally could not take it any more and skipped ahead to the end to find out who the stalker was - just to end my torture. I have never read a Catherine Coulter book before (this one was given to me by a friend) and I never will again! DON'T WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME!!
