Book Review: 5 stars, except for publisher's error...

"Room on the Broom" is one of my daughter's favorite books. It may seem like a Halloween story, but it's appropriate for any time of the year. With its sweet story of a friendly witch making room on her broom for other animals and the story's excellent rhyming, it makes for a very good bedtime read. (I also highly recommend The Gruffalo and the Gruffalo's Child, both by the same author/illustrator team)
As such, we wanted to give a copy as a birthday gift, and so I ordered the Hardcover version. But when it arrived in the mail, the publishing error that Tanya Fox wrote about in her review had NOT been corrected. The copy of the book I purchased doesn't have the "I'll have witch without fries" line, but the "I won't let you go, do you think I'm a fool?" version. I ended up giving the book as a gift, since I didn't have time to buy another gift or search for another copy.
I don't know which version of the story is the original one (the author is British and the book was originally published in England), because both our book and the recently purchased book has the publishing date listed as 2001. I can only guess that one version was written for the U.S. market, but again, I don't know which version. It's still a good read, but I do prefer the "french fries" version of the story.
