Book Review: A Journey Through Roy's Lifetime

I am a huge fan of Roy Buchanan, Every song he played on was with conviction and uniqueness. Roy had a very interesting existence, as well as some detrimental personal habits, as I imagine we all do from time to time. Roy was born a sharecropper's son, he had no outlandish ego,He just wanted to play. I admire Roy quite a bit, his life was filled with opportunity, but just as stardom lingered on the horizon, Roy knew of the changes and stayed true to himself. That is more important than any Grammy award or big label deal. He was always confident of his abilities and that was enough. I think it was anyway. I've seen the PBS documentary and it really shines a more personal glimpse.Roy always managed to be the cool and collected one, while unleashing a fury, and a slight grin. I'm 23 and Roy was before my time, it aches when I think about that, because if you hear any of his music you'll know Roy was somebody special who overcame quite a bit of hardship for you to just listen.
