Book Reviews of Ruby (Landry Saga)

Book Review: All right
Summary: 4 Stars

I had just read the miserable Wildflowers series when I started Ruby,so it was a breath of fresh air. Usual ghostwriter fare, but beats the miniseries of late. Does make you want to read the rest of the series for entertainment, not to see how awful Niederman can make V C's name look. Not bad at all.

Book Review: Amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

I started reading V.C. Andrews' novels well over 5 years ago in my high school library. I was never a fan of novels but after reading "Heaven" I was amazed. Andrews' novels always have a way of wanting you to read more that you somehow can't put the book down. Personally, "Ruby" and its series are my faves. As in all of her novel series, it makes you feel like you're part of the story and you're the main character. Andrews paints the picture so well and describes the most trivial things perfectly in her stories. I've yet to collect ALL her series... I'm done with the Logan series and I'm working on the Landry series :)

Book Review: Another twisted and tormented Andrews family saga begins.
Summary: 3 Stars

I enjoyed the first half of this premiere novel in the Landry Saga far more the second half. All the gothic touches chill the reader in all the right places (I especially enjoyed the voodoo trappings), but the Cajun characters of Ruby's home were far more interesting than the spoiled rich brats in the New Orleans section of the story; and the tortures that Ruby endures at the hands of Gisselle and her cronies are so cruel and inhumane it makes the book difficult to enjoy. Nonetheless, there is more than enough mystery and intrigue in this family's story to make me want to immediately jump into the next book in the series the moment I finish this one.

Book Review: Awesome Reading
Summary: 5 Stars

My opinion may be a little biased since I love all that V.C. Andrews has written but, Ruby is definately great reading. Almost immediately you'll become so enthralled with the story and the events as they unfold that you'll find it difficult to put it down. When you have to you'll be left with feelings of despair and sadness and won't be able to think of anything else until you find out what's going to happen next. Very gripping story with almost too real characters. A must have!

Book Review: BEST WORK EVER
Summary: 5 Stars

Let's face it...alot of V.C.Andrews work have little whiney woman, who have no back bone. They sit in the corner and cry and whine about how awful their lives are and how awful being born was, well this one is diffrent. Ruby has back bone...she say's what she feels, and she doesn't sit in a corner and cry the whole novel away. I became so frustrated with V.C. Andrews back when she wrote Dawn that I stoped reading her all together. But when I freind of mine gave me this book for a Birthday gift, I put it aside. Later when I was cleaning out my book shelves I found this one. I tossed it into the trash. But later when I found nothing new to read I picked it out...wanting something "light" to read. I opened it up...wondering how long it would be before I tossed this back into the trash! What a surprise, weather it's the new writer...or they just let this person do their own stories. But the result was pleasure! I have read all five..what a diffrence. The only thing that was a dissapointment, was the whole brother loves sister thing again. Let's face it, it has been over used, the whole thing is tiered. Hey, at least there's no abusive grandmother (thank goodness) that was really overused. The book is typical but the whole New Orleans setting was well researched, and written to almost perfection. Being a yearly travler to New Orleans, I was very impressed by how well that was done, felt like I was there, hearing the music...seeing the crowds...wonderful! Need more books with better researched places, stronger people. Please no more whiners and cry babies. Get rid of the brother sister thing, what is with that!!!! That is really getting into a weird areas!!! Stick with the normal...boy girl...I'll even go as far as girl-girl...boy-boy...but not the brother sister thing!!! In Flowers in the Attic it was diffrent, new, shocking. But now with V.C. Andrews dead...for many years, let the author who is-writing behind her name-do his or her own thing...it's time!! But all and all the story is simple...predictable...but the New Orleans setting is great!
