Book Reviews of Rumble FishBook Review: A disapointment Summary: 2 Stars
Honestly, I hated this book. This book had no perpose at all.The plot went no were, and even if it had, I doubt I would have cared. Rusty-James, Motorcycle boy, and Steve have no depth, you don't see them as any more than this: A dumb gang leader wanna be,a motorcycle stealing drifter/loser,and a scardy cat. The book caught my interest in the beganing chapters, but later on became hopelessly dull. I read this book hoping it would be as engrossing as "That Was Then, This is Now",and was endlessly disapointed. If you want to read a truly good book by S.E.Hinton, read "That Was Then, This is Now".
Book Review: A really good novel, everybody should read it Summary: 4 Stars
I think Rumble Fish was a really good book.I have read all of SE Hintons books, and i think this was one of my favorite books.I love the way the plot was and how Rusty-James'character,and how all the other characters, were played out.The book kept me in suspense all the way through. It was very exciting, and matched up perfectly with its name.I dident really know why it was named Rumble Fish until the end.The characters in all of SE Hintons books are alike in one way or another, but the plot is always so different from every other book. After i read The Outsiders,i liked it better than any other book. But when i read half way through Rumble Fish i knew i was going to really like it just as much, and i did.Its really hard to explain how good this book is.You have to read it for yourself.I loved it and you will too.
Book Review: A very intresting book Summary: 4 Stars
The book Rumble Fish takes place in the seventies in the slums of a city. The book has three main characters which are Rusty-James, Steve, and Motorcycle Boy. Rusty-James wants to be like his brother Motorcycle Boy. He wants to be like his brother by staying calm and laughing in dangerous situations. Rusty-James wants to be the toughest kid in town, but there is one thing holding him back, that is he is not book smart like his brother Motorcycle Boy. Steve is Rusty-James best friend. Steve is quite the oppisite of Rusty-James. Steve is good at school, and does not like to drink or smoke like Rusty-James likes to. Some other characters that are mentioned in the book is Betty, Rust-James girlfriend. Another character that is mentioned, and a cause of conflict in the book is Bliff Wilcox, Bliff is the head of the head of the gang that is at conflict with Rusty's gang. One other character that is mentioned is Rusty-Jamesand Motorcycle Boy Father. My opion of this book is that it is a very good book. I liked how Rusty-James had feelings even though he is a rough character in the book.Even though I like this book I thought there were a couple of things taht could be changed about the book. The thing that I thought could change was the title. Even though I thought the title could be differnt, I still thought it was a very intresting book, and i reccomend it to all.
Book Review: A very moving story..., Summary: 5 Stars
Rusty James, oh boy... What a character, Hinton really portrays the life a young teen in a bad environment. Rusty James recalls when he goes on an adventure that will ultimately lead him to imprisonment and the understanding of how his brother, The Motorcycle Boy, felt. Rusty engages in battles against characters and himself. Biff Wilcox being the opponent in his first encounter, a scuffle with street thugs, and the struggle within himself to show his true side to the world. To show them that he can be like his a brother, a leader, a "tuff guy".
A life filled with violence and misery is not easy on a 14 year old. It's even worse when your mom leaves your side, your dad's a drunk, and your older brother is gone for weeks at a time. Resorting to gangs for comfort, Rusty James shapes his own path to the future. Rusty James, in an attempt to understand his brother follows him to a pet shop and sees his brother set free all the animals. The sirens start, they take the Rumble Fish to the river, but suddenly the Motorcycle Drops dead. They are caught. The Fish make it to the river, but the only place they ended up is dead or in jail.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading books that show the true side of life in the cities, a life where there is no such thing as picture perfect. Young adults preferably, but in general this book is overall right for everyone. 5 out of 5...
Book Review: A wonderful novel. I Give it four stars for Hinton. Summary: 4 Stars
S.E. Hinton, a very famous writer, wrote one of her famous novels called Rumble Fish. I have read it and was astonished and amazed. All the description of the setting and plot was just fantastic. So many things were included in the novel. It was evrything you can imagine in it.In my opionoin I just loved it. The content of the story is so inspiring. She makes evreything in the point of view of a young boy. In the story you read all his thought, feelings and emotion. Now thats a classic. I have to say the content is so exciting and amusing. Hinton describes three important things in the novel. The character, setting and plot. While she describing it you can just imagine it in your head. See everything, its like your just there. Rumble Fish is an inspiring book that would amaze everybody and astonish many people. I have enjoyed this book so much from how Hinton tells the story. The context from the book fits in inperfectly with the plot. I enjoyed the book because of how the plot changes so much. Other books that I enjoyed and have read by Hinton is the Outsider. A very enthusastic novel. So much description and plot. I couldnt tell the apart those two books from each other. If I could say a few words to Hinton all I would and could say would br "Good job Hinton"
