Book Reviews of Sailor Moon, Vol. 1Book Review: A [website] Review Summary: 4 Stars
I will not spoil this issue for those that havn't read it yet. While the anime is based off of the events that happen in the manga the anime writers have taken a lot of creative lisence in bringing Sailormoon to tv and film. The manga is more mature in several ways from characterisation (more sexual) to action (blood and suicide) to the overall drama of the story. Basically, in this first volume we are introduced to Luna, Sailormoon, Mercury, Mars and finally Jupiter. The story is very simple here as it is basically setting the stage for the next volume and the series as a whole. There is nothing technically wrong with this volume but because I have seen how great this book can be (such as the superb SuperS arc) I had to mark it down to a 4 / 5 rating.
Book Review: A definite must for all true Sailor Moon Fans!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This manga is such an eye-opener for this emerging Sailor Moon fan! Here you will read the real SM story as Naoko Takeuchi meant it to be! It should be a required book for all "Moonies" who want to evolve from mere Fan to SuperFan! The artwork is well worth the money, but don't be expecting the beautiful colored manga that you see on the web. It's all black and white, but totally gorgeous! Sailor Moon Says!
Book Review: A good beginning Summary: 4 Stars
A good beginning to the Sailor Moon storyline. Yes, it is very similar to the beginning of the English anime version, but it gets different soon enough. I like the books because the pace is quicker than the anime (they originally came out at the same time and the anime had to space out bits of story so as to not outpace the manga). Takeuchi paces the story well, and even if you have seen the anime there are enough changes that if you want to read the manga you should probably start here. There are some humorous moments not included in the anime, for instance. If you would like to see the Sailor Moon storyline without the Monster Of The Day, get this book.
Book Review: A good starting out manga Summary: 4 Stars
I think this was a good book to start reading the manga's from. It's good for true moonies and first timers of all ages. I would recomed this book to any one. However I do not think that it is the best manga so if you do not like it maybe try a supers.
Book Review: A great series includes a great beginning. Summary: 5 Stars
Yes, this book is one of my favorites. It has it's similarities and differences to the manga. Similarites: It has the same plot same villians, same sailor scouts in order of appearences. But the differences are: The magna is intended for older people. Comparing this to the anime, it seems like that's more for younger kids{ except the original uncut version and special uncut of Sailor Moon}. This book has a different beginning to the manga, and parts I'd wish they included in it. I think every time I read the manga I'll wish for that, because it's not just this one, it's the other ones to. In this book, we meet Serena Tsukino{better known as Bunny, Usagi in the japanese version}. She meets a cat named Luna, who later bacomes Bunny's guardian cat. Luna gives Bunny a brooch{ the one that she has on on the front page, which I think looks prettier than the one in the anime}to tranform into the warrior for good, Sailor Moon to battle the evil forces { Bunny's only worring about the Dark Kingdom right now. The other senshi Mercury {Amy Mizuno, Ami in the japanese}, Mars {Raye Hino, Rei in the japanese}, Jupiter {Lita Kino, Makato in the japanese} appear. Sailor Venus {Mina Aino, Minako in the japanese} appears in the next book. So if you want to read a great manga, read this. Not just this manga, but all the other sm mangas, too.
