Book Reviews of Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together

Book Review: God is at work
Summary: 4 Stars

As a follower of Christ, I understand that there are things we cannot see that have to be accepted on faith. So I had no trouble accepting the validity of this story since I see how God transforms lives every day as a literacy volunteer in a faith based program. People like this exist in every city in America. Some have never had a chance for an education or to have the kind of life most of us take for granted. I liked the short chapters, to the point, yet moving the story along. The voices of the two characters were distinct so I had no trouble knowing who was speaking.
Everyone who reads this should recognize that they can make a difference in the life of another.

Book Review: Great story and thought provoking .....
Summary: 5 Stars

I truly enjoyed this book and felt that this book gives one a lot to think about. It is like no other book I have read. I saw both of the authors on TV and that is what caused me to look for the book. Otherwise I would of never know to get it. Hope you enjoy it too!!

Book Review: Ultimately Hopeful, Always Surprising
Summary: 5 Stars

I think I've been had. Because when I picked this up, I thought it was some kind of fiction that hadn't sold so well. Then at home I saw it on the shelf, and I picked it up and realized that it just might be something more than a novelist could conjure up. And as I plunged into the depths of two different men, I realized that I'd gotten more than I bargained for when I got this book. Readers are in for a rare treat when they encounter the story of Ron Hall and Denver Moore.

Denver Moore knows what it means to work for nothing, and feel that it actually means something. He worked in the days of sharecropping, and he picked cotton. He worked for "The Man," and didn't really know anything else. When he was given a small shack with his one hog and an outdoor toilet, he thought it was great. And later in his life he would be a homeless man, an angry man. And he was a man who wouldn't talk too much, and he wanted nothing to do with the shelters.

Ron Hall knows about success, probably has his own business card. He's an art dealer, and he knows his Picasso, and he just plain knows art. But his ideal was never to help volunteer in a homeless shelter. But Ron's wife, Deborah, had other ideas. She had a heart for people, as well as a heart for God. She got to know homeless people. Ron Hall would eventually get to know Denver Moore.

Two totally different people. An unlikely friendship, not simply a catch and release passing by. But a friendship forever. This is a special story, with more than special surprises. It involves some courage at times, and a simple understanding at other times.

Take the time to read the story of Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Best buddies, with a story of hope that will reach many, and break barriers of this day and age!

Book Review: Fabulous Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book makes my "top five favorite books"! It was an amazing true story that brought out many emotions! I've shared it with fifteen people since reading it.

Book Review: My favorite book
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a book that changed the way that I look at a lot of issues. I love this book and even gave away this copy that I ordered and reordered a signed copy for myself. I have already read it twice. It is my all time favorite! I love the way that it is written and the fact that it is a true story. It sounds like they have movie options and I am looking forward to that as well. I would love to see them speak but they never come to my area. Maybe my mom and I will take a road trip someday. It is that worth it! GET THIS BOOK!
