Book Reviews of Sandworms of DuneBook Review: DUNE THE COMPLETE SET Summary: 5 Stars
Sandworms of Dune, the original work, and the pre-quills are magnificent. I have read all the books, ordered through Amazon, and its been a life changing experience. The concepts of space travel, other memory, as well as the character development have allowed me months of enjoyable reading. I totally recommend the original books, the prequils and the final two books after ChapterHouse Dune.
Book Review: Did the authors even read the Dune? Summary: 1 Stars
I am sorry but this and the book before are horrible. I am a huge fan of the original six Dune novels. I have not read the son's Dune novels as I have never been a fan of sequels or prequels written by someone else. I saw both "Hunters of Dune" and "Sandworms of Dune" were supposedly based on as 30 page outline that Frank Herbert had left regarding the end of the Dune series. I bought the book in the hopes that I could see some of the deep and intricate thinking from the original six books. I did not. These two books seemingly have nothing in common with what came before. I must assume that the outline was a work in progress as I cannot seem to find the emotional nor logical conclusion to Frank Herbert's work. I advise one not to read this.... .
Book Review: Dimco Dune Head Summary: 5 Stars
I found this book a fitting end to the Dune saga. And though it wasn't written by Frank Herbert , Brian has done his Father well. I have read all the Dune books at least once , some twice. This one, Sandworms of Dune, has such a final twist I never expected. But I think readers of this review need read it for themselves. I gave it 5 stars , because Dune has fasnatied me since the first one and this one was just as good as the first. Just sad this is the end.
Book Review: Don't like the new books? Then don't read them. Summary: 4 Stars
OK, so you've read all the reviews from others, the one star reviews, the five star reviews.
First of all, I liked this book, I liked the original series and I liked the prequels from BH/KJA and the first part of the sequel. And I liked this final part of the sequel, which completes the saga. I don't know if the upcoming books make any sense, because the story is told. But, as for the books from BH/KJA so far, they were entertaining and nice.
What astonishes me is the fact how enraged people get when they comment a good review of the book. Most of the one star reviews and the comments stated that they didn't like the House novels, didn't like the Jihad novels and are now - as expected - appalled by the final books.
So why did you read the sequel when you didn't like the prequels?
What is your point exactly? That people with a different view are illiterate, stupid and whatever just because they liked this book. That nobody should buy these books because they are so bad.
I think that people that like the prequels and the first part of the sequel should buy it.
I think that every one is entitled to his own opinion. And that opinion might actually happen to differ from yours. Get over it. You don't like BH writing? Fine with me. But stop running around like a Taliban telling other people what to like and what not to like.
I would recommend this book. But I would suggest that reader first reads all 6 original books and then jumps to the prequels. If reader doesn't like the prequels, then he shouldn't read this book 7 (which is actually split into two books).
I can't add a plot description to the book because it's already at Wikipedia. I can't decide for the reader if the Authors style meets his expectations. I liked their style, but this is a question of taste.
So my point in this review is a suggestion to the potential reader how to decide for himself.
It would have been great if Frank Herbert ended the saga himself. He couldn't, because he worked on other things at the time of his death. But, if we were not lied to, he outlined the storyline for the last chapter himself. The future will tell if that is the truth or if we were lied to (I don't think so).
Given the choice between the cliffhanger of book 6 as the final chapter and his son completing it, I prefer the latter.
Some reviewers disagree. Instead of simply not buying the book, they flame everyone with a different opinion and treat them like heretics. It's funny though. I thought that Frank Herbert taught you otherwise...
Book Review: End of the story? Summary: 3 Stars
Obviously not up to Frank Herbert's standards, but nothing is. All in all, a satisfying conclusion which still leaves room for more. If you have come this far, you might as well finish the series.
