Book Reviews of Say Goodbye

Book Review: Lisa Gardner novel
Summary: 5 Stars

As usual, Lisa Gardner holds you from page 1 to the very end. It is hard to put the book down! If you have never read her, start with "The Perfect Husband". Ms. Gardner's books are addictive!

Book Review: Not Her Best
Summary: 3 Stars

While this book was better than the last few novels by this author, I really can't say it was one of her best.

I don't remember the character of Kimberly being quite this unlikeable in other books, but it made it very difficult for me to root for or care about her. And while I understand they were intrical to the story, there was just way too much spidering going on, much of it boring detail about which I couldn't care less. Finally, there were way too many characters and shifting points of view, and I often found myself getting confused about who was speaking or who was who.

Book Review: Not her best storyline
Summary: 3 Stars

I agree with most people on their opinion on this book. It was a very hard read, very graphic, extremely disturbing. If you have kids, I don't recommend it, but at the same time, it's good to be aware of what really goes on in the world. You can never be too careful, never have too many locks on your house. I didn't give the book 5 stars, not because of the sore subject, but mainly 'cause I don't like Kim the character. And I didn't really love the ending. But I had times when I had to put the book down, because I got very disturbed and emotional. I've never read a book so detailed on child's abuse. It also showed me what probably happens to most of those kids on Missing Ads. If you have thick skin, you can read this book. But honestly... Save yourself the sleepless nights - I, for example, couldn't sleep for a couple of nights. Lisa Gardner has MANY incredible books, that won't leave you feeling like the world is just a big gateway to hell. I still can't forget the Burgerman. That awful name is plastered to my brain now.

I like the fact that Gardner had the courage and patience, to write such a dark book. Not a lot of writers have that kind of confidence. Some of us need a reminder that the world isn't just a big playground. There are awful things happening everyday, everywhere. So if you wanna skip the images, read some of her other material.

Book Review: People should open their eyes
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a really great read. Yes it is a brutal and disturbing read, but don't listen to people who say don't read Say Goodbye because the child abuse is so detailed. Children are abused in everyway everyday. I am happy to know that Lisa Gardner isn't afraid to remind her readers that child abuse is a real problem. So if you start to read this book and you put it down because this book goes against your morals then you are just basically turning your cheek the other way on a very serious problem. Don't be afraid to read this book because its disturbing. It should be diturbing. It should make you want to reach out to children who are abused. I loved this book it brings out everything people try to sweep under the rug.

Book Review: SAY GOODBYE TO THIS BOOK
Summary: 1 Stars

After reading and enjoying every Lisa Gardner book, this was a disappointment. First: If you have a fear of bugs--especially spiders, don't' read this book. Second: The rape, kidnapping and torture of young boys is beyond my understanding why Ms. Gardner would even attempt this subject? The book is confusing with the characters due to current times and flashbacks and should have had dates. Who did the kidnapping, torturing, killing, etc.? The names became more a mystery than the book. Bodies hung in trees with spiders--UGG! Although I'm a big fan of Lisa Gardner, I recommend you "Say Goodbye" to this one.
