Book Review: Say Goodbye to Lisa Gardner
Summary: 1 Stars

Zero stars. This was the first book I read by Lisa Gardner and it will be the last. She's got a captivating style and can definitely generate thrills with her writing. However, while the evolution of victim to perpetrator was interesting and believable, the child sexual abuse scenes left nothing to the imagination. I'm amazed that the author (a mother of a young child herself) was able to write these scenes with so little emotion. While reading the scenes was horrific, writing the scenes seemed to be just coldly matter-of-fact. In fact, not until the very end of the book did there seem to be just a bit of the author attempting to cast any kind of moral judgement. Seems to me to be another contribution to the normalising of child sexual abuse in this culture. Awful!! I ripped this one up and threw it in with my paper recycling.

Book Review: Shocking
Summary: 1 Stars

I have read and enjoyed many Lisa Gardner books/books-on-tapes but this was the only book I had to throw away before I could finish it. The abuse of one child and the abuse/death of another went beyond what was necessary, in my opinion, to identify the sociopathic nature of the villain in this book. I don't believe I will ever buy or read/listen to another book by this author.

Book Review: Spiderific Read!
Summary: 4 Stars

Great mystery. Couldn't put it down. Made me look at spiders a little more closely. Kept my interest with each turned page.

Book Review: This one's gonna stick with you......
Summary: 5 Stars

The things that happen in this book are the stuff nightmares are made of. I was riveted, but terrified. There were some parts that I had to force myself to read through. This book has me checking the locks on the windows and doors each night!

Book Review: This story latches on and won't let you go!
Summary: 5 Stars

I listened to the audio CD of this story. I agree with some readers, it has a paragraph or two that are rough but extrememly effective. This is a dark thriller. I had to wait awhile before I typed this review. The story left me thinking for a long time and had an emotional impact on my psyche. L.G. has to be commended for this plot/story line. It is top notch writing. The narrators are among the best. I loved the voices. My favorite part was the Burger Man's narration and the best of the best was the ending.
