I love Lisa Gardner books. This book is also another great Gardner thriller. However I have to agree with many of the other reviews. It's just to upsetting to read. It's probably a very real depiction of the true horror of crimes against children. She also brings attention to the fact that it is a vicious cycle of those who were abused often becoming the abuser. As a read I just could not enjoy it. I was disturbed and not in a good way. Quite frankly I think it was too real. I rather be ignorant of these things.
Please read her other books, because she writes great thrillers.
Book Review: Well written, but difficult to like

While the plot is well-paced, the subject matter of child sexual abuse, pornography and kidnapping makes it a difficult book to really like. Still, if you can stomach the difficult subject matter, the book is well written. The only caveat to that is a spectral disturbance at a very dramatic moment that is out of place with the rest of the book. And the worse part is that it is totally unnecessary. The narrator of the book changes frequently from one character to another, and it is not until deep in the book that one can be sure which of the male characters are speaking, and while I found it interesting, others might find it irritating. One thing that I did like was that not every clue panned out. Some at first looked promising but didn't yield much. That seems more like reality to me, but on the whole, the book could have done with a bit less reality.Book Review: What an amazing book

Wow I started reading this book and at first I was a little confused by the characters I have to say though about 30 pages in I couldn't put the book down. The twist in this book were amazing an over all great read!!

I HATE this book! I had to put it down. It is SOOO much darker than anything she has previously written. I have loved each of her books up until this one. I actually went out the day it was released to buy it. I can't even imagine this is from the same author. VERY DISTURBING ! ! I am now very leery to read her again, it is a shame. I actually had fantasies of what I could do to let Lisa know how VILE I thought this book was.....setting it on fire and then sending her a picture of it ? ?
I Understand there are bad people in the world..... but, this heavy and disturbing subject matter is just so unlike her writing.
Please tell everyone you know NOT to purchase this book. And if you see a copy just lying in the street.....keep walking!
