Book Review: Essential companion for the HP 50g or HP49 series

This is the second book in a two part set that was written for the HP 49G, but is equally useful for its successor the HP 50g Graphical Calculator. There are only minor differences between the two calculators which are pretty easy to workaround when reading these books.
The HP 50g is a very powerful calculator and works in a way that directly supports your thinking process, due to the combination of RPN, an excellent CAS and programming tools. But it requires a large investment of time to really learn to use and this can be hard to achieve without comprehensive documentation. These books are the only truly comprehensive printed material available.
Both books provide a very readable and detailed explanation of the calculator functionality but also how to use it with examples. I wanted to drill into the calculator's programming and statistics capabilities. I found I needed both volumes to do this. I would recommend buying both together.
The books work well both as a tutorial or as a reference. The topics are divided succintly between chapters and provide enough examples to work through a topic. The books are also indexed well, so it is easy to go back and look up key functionality.
