A short, stubby, race horse with an inherited bad temper, Seabiscuit, was a legend among legends. He was a cultural icon in the time when America needed help the most: the Great Depression, and he gave those Americans hope to help get through those horrible times. Hillenbrand simply takes this horse's (and the 3 men's who made his success possible)fascinating story and makes it better. Her extreme in-depth research shows crystal-clear in this amazing novel, and thus her novel reaches a legendary level only few ever reach: an engrossing, fast-moving, nonfiction page-turner. This is a must-read novel.
