Book Review: ***** from a pilot very familiar with O'Hare
Summary: 5 Stars
Very insightful story from Bob Richards. No punches pulled as he describes how the O'Hare Tower has grown up since the controller strike under the Reagan Administration. The current FAA bureaucracy is breaking the clips off of pens to prevent controllers from stealing them while delays continue to grow. Understaffing and a climate of `managing through punishment' forces controllers to add buffers to their spacing further backing up the skies. Bob's personal experiences highlight the last 22 years of air traffic and his descriptions how managing aircraft has affected his daily life and the loss of some of his fellow controllers is well worth the read. Each chapter tops the previous in creating the urge to find out what happens next.
