Book Review: A Tale of Redeeming Love

Roselyn Longwood was once a member of a wealthy and prominent family. When his peers uncovered her brother's criminal activity, the family was forced into exile, her brother fled the country and Roselyn and her younger sister were left to fend for themselves. Roselyn's pride prevented her from accepting the help of her relations; instead she chose to become the mistress of Viscount Norbury. The book begins with Roselyn as the sole lady present at a house party of noblemen and whores. The Viscount is disgusted with Roselyn's recalcitrance in the bedroom and desires to humiliate her for undisclosed personal reasons. He puts her up for auction and Kyle Bradwell, a commoner in attendance only by happenstance, purchases her. Kyle returns Roselyn to her family, but word of the scandalous auction spreads and Roselyn faces total ruin. The only hope for redemption is a quick marriage to Kyle. Kyle is persuaded to marry Roselyn by the always-intriguing Lord Easterbrook. Kyle and Roselyn begin to build a solid relationship, however, Kyle is aware that any hope of happiness might be ruined if she learns of his involvement in the scandal that brought down her family and his complicity in the pursuit of her brother.
As always Ms. Hunter's characters are well drawn. The story is interesting enough and the book moves along at a good speed.
Side Note: This is the third book a series. The first book of the series, "The Rules of Seduction", is a very good book and it is almost required reading to fully appreciate Roselyn's character. The second book of the series, "Lessons of Desire" is a bit ridiculous and not required reading, the two lead characters from that story appear briefly but it is not worth slogging through that book if you have not done so already.
