Book Review: Had the Potential to be a Lot Better Than What It Actually Was!

Well I guess I better start this review off by emphatically stating that this book had the potential to be pretty good, yet primarily due to the poor layout and format of the book, it really didn't get the chance to shine like it could have. Another detractor was the photographs, not all of them mind you, but some of them just weren't the best choices for this book. Now I am not talking about the quality of the photographs, but more so the subject matter in the photographs and the way in which some of the photographs were taken.
There were some very fine and viable points made in this book that would be of great benefit to someone looking to increase their own personal ability to defend themselves, but for me those few good points were overshadowed by some material that was not very realistic to say the least.
I think that if the author were to retake some of the photographs, reorganize the layout and format of the book, and reevaluate some of the material in the book, then this book would definitely move up from a 3 star rating to a 5 star rating, at least as far as I am concerned.
Here are some very good books concerning self-defense that would be of benefit to anyone wishing to improve upon their own personal self-defense skills. However, please be advised that although there are some really good books and DVD's available on the subject, nothing takes the place of one-on-one instruction with a qualified and competent martial arts instructor.
