Book Reviews of Sensory Secrets: How to Jump-Start Learning in Children

Book Review: Sensory Secrets: A Map to Understanding Yourself
Summary: 5 Stars

In a perfect world, by the time we reach adulthood, we would have mastered all of the foundational skills described in Sensory Secrets. But the world is not perfect, nor are we. So, while you may read Sensory Secrets to better understand children, by the time you finish the book, you will also better understand yourself. This book will change your perspective on day to day experiences, and offer you solutions to problems you barely realized were there.

Book Review: Thumbs UP for Sensory Secrets
Summary: 5 Stars

This book was fantastic! It was well written, easy to understand, and accurate. Catherine generated wonderful ideas for parent/child activities that can be immediately implemented to help change children's lives.

I will use the Foundational Skills Inventory in my practice and share it with other therapists. It is easy for parents, educators and other health professionals to use to highlight areas of concern, and to clearly communicate with the occupational therapist. I plan to order it in tablet form as soon as it becomes available.

A must read for OT students! I highly recommend this book!

Book Review: Rating Sensory Secrets
Summary: 5 Stars

Sensory Secrets is like a receipe for the preliminary steps important to succeed in an academic environment. It is written in a very logical and easy to follow fashion. Thus it can be easily used by professionals and parents alike. It is also unique in that I have never seen another book quite like this one. It's a quick read and can be a very effective guide.

Book Review: Truly Wonderful Information
Summary: 5 Stars

An excellent discription of what Life and Love is all about. Catherine Schneider did an outstanding job of explaining the true meaning of connecting with children. It's all about teaching mothers, fathers, family members, teachers anyone who comes in contact with a child to help them know themselves and live life to the fullest. A lot of medical references, but down to earth and easy to read information. It is a book I would recommend to anyone who wants to help give a child all the benefits of a good life and a lot of LOVE. I am a 63 year old grandmother with 27 years of experience working with handicapped children and Catherine hit the nail right on the head.
