Book Reviews of Serenity Official Visual Companion

Book Review: A fine example of what Movie Companion books should be
Summary: 5 Stars

A fine addition to my collection of Sci-Fi movies companion books. I am primarily interested in viewing the storyboards, concept art, design, and good quality stills (hate those books that rely on grainy low-resolution pictures to fill their pages) of movies I enjoyed. This book delivers a fine balance of visual information and engaging and amusing prose for fans of this "universe".

Book Review: sooooo good
Summary: 5 Stars

I thought I was getting a ham sandwich and they gave me a pig! Much more than I expected. A must-have for fans.

Book Review: Serenity Rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent companion to the movie. Great photos and artwork and it gives a nice insight into the filming of "Serenity" and the universe in which it takes place.

Book Review: Beautifully done...and interesting to boot!
Summary: 4 Stars

I came to "Firefly" backwards - I saw one episode on TV and was underwhelmed, but went to see "Serenity" with my 24-year-old-son. I was hooked, and went back to see all the episodes of the series. I'm a big fan of "behind the scenes" books about films anyway, and this one was nicely packaged, with excellent photography and lovely production illustrations. Reading the script demonstrates just how well-written the film was, and how much the actors continued to bring to their roles. Best of all was the interview with Joss Whedon and the "mee-mos" he wrote to the crew, outlining his vision. The book was worth it just for those! You'll go back to this one again and again!

Why only four stars? Fully 3/4 of the book is the script - not a bad thing, but I'd like to have seen a couple of longer interviews with the cast, or the other production crew, or something - in short, what's there is great, but I'd like more "meat."

Book Review: Gather round Browncoats!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you loved Firefly then you must own this book. It has a great indepth history and interview with Joss Wheadon about the verse that Serenity lives as well as the shooting script for the film with scenes not in the movie!

I loved this book and I think other Browncoats will too!
