Book Review: Sew good for beginners!

I bought this book after getting fed up of the time and hassle involved in putting zippers in and getting non-stretch fabrics to fit exactly right. I wanted a simple introduction to knits, and as I noticed that there were patterns included with this book, I figured that made it good value as well. There are a variety of casual and smart tops to make, as well as skirts and dresses, and what appealed to me was that you can mix and match tops and bottoms using simple alterations to create a unique garment!
I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is the most helpful book on sewing I have bought. I was able to make up a fabulous 60s style mini dress in glitter knit fabric, in four hours (and probably less next time I try it, now I know what I am doing!), and I am guessing the simple top styles would only take an hour or two. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book, and I am definitely going to get the other 'Sew U' book hoping that will be just as helpful for non stretch fabrics.
