This book is tremendously valuable for future historians of American mores.
For example, the photos of Madonna in the Gaiety, a male strip club, are priceless. The Gaiety existed for decades right above a family-centered Howard Johnson's, in the heart of New York's Times Square. Above, all sorts of sordid things were happening (some of which Madonna photographed). Below, tourist families ordered fried clams and frothy milk shakes.
The Gaiety has recently closed. Times Square is dead. Long live Madonna!

My favorite picture is of Madge in the nude, eating a slice of pizza, in public, in a restaurant.
I have yearned to do the same thing ever since.
