Book Review: "A Parent's Only as Good as Their Dumbest Kid. If One Wins a Nobel Prize, but the Other Gets Robbed by a Hooker, You Failed."

The words in the title of this review are the type of wisdom that has come across ones Twitter account, if you have been following sh*tmydadsays, and it was only a matter of time before a book by Justin Halpern and a TV series would follow. The book is not just a list of what his father says, although those short expressions would probably be enough in this ADD-type world to satisfy most people. Justin gives the "backstory" to many of the expressions, and those stories, in turn, give one a true feeling for the love that exists between a son and his father, even when the stories sometime creep over to become a poignant reminder of the passing of time. And, makes no bones about it, while "Dad" seems to get a lot of attention, Justin, as evidenced by this book and his blog, clearly shows the acorn did not fall far from the tree, or so we say in the South, as his words are just as sharp as his dad's, with a touch of self-deprecation.
SH*TMYDADSAYS might not be the perfect gift for every father on Father's Day (with mine it would have given him too many ideas about where he went wrong), but for all you guys out there, whether you are a father or not, or still have a father or not, it makes for one great read. It is, also, as I found, "the" book for the summer and the beaches or the mountains or even just laying in a hammock in the shade with a cold lemonade: it's short, it's cheap, you and stop and pick-it-back-up without having to reread it, and it's a NEW YORK TIMES # 1 Best Seller (non-fiction).
As for the title of the review, I only have one question: Justin, I don't think you'll get a Nobel prize, but a Pulitzer might not be out of the question. Where are you going to keep it?
