Book Reviews of Shadows of the Empire (Star Wars)

Book Review: You must read Shadows of the Empire!
Summary: 5 Stars

Shadows of the Empire is a wonderful, fast paced , and action packed addition to the Star Wars series. Perry's representation of the characters is marvelous, and I dont think I've ever seen a better supporting villian than Xixor, head of the infamous underground crime syndicate, Black Sun. The way Perry usurps the role of transforming Luke from a young(and in some ways immature)man to a hardened Jedi Knight is done brilliantly. The plot couldnt have been written any better either. Perry does a great job of balancing out the many conflicts that seem to be occuring at one time(as seen in the Trilogy). Dash Rendar, the other new main character,is a piece of work as well. He is a smart-mouthed, arrogant, and fast talking smuggler who eventually drops the hard outer shell revealing that he is really a nice guy(kinda like Han Solo). This book, all and all, is great on many platforms. It combines the typical problem of the Star Wars Trilogy: The evil Galactic Empire, with the introduction of Xixor and his quest to be the Emperor's right hand man. And it combines them well. Fans like myself couldnt have asked for anything any better, and if you havent read it already, PLEASE DO.

Book Review: A Great Book For Curious Star Wars fans.
Summary: 5 Stars

I read "Shadows of the Empire" and COULD NOT put it down! Ilove learning about new characters, such as Prince Xizor(pronounced SHEE-zor), and Dash Rendar. I love finding out about Black Sun. Except the end was REALLLYYY sad, I'm just warning you. Also, there is some romance, so I held the book away from me in the middle and said, "This book is nasty!" But it is still and extremely good book because everyone wants to know what happened in between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." I recommend this book to anyone as their next Star wars Book.

Book Review: This book absolutely without a doubt RULES!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you haven't read Shadows of the Empire, you have _got_ to goto your nearest book store and buy it. SOTE is basiclly the greatest Star Wars novel that I have read so far, and it is packed so full of action and suspense that it's impossible to put down. I liked Dash Render, but I thought Prince Xizor was a real jerk. The problem with the new characters was that I could easily predict that they would definitly lose their lives since they don't appear in ROTJ. Also, there are some scenes that need to be thought on, such as Guri sticking a gun in an alien's eye and pulling the trigger, as well as Xizor's confrontation with Leih. Other than these problems, This book was completly ingenious!

Book Review: A good book, yet somewhat pointless
Summary: 4 Stars

I thought that this was a good book, but I must diasagree withpeople who thought it should have been a movie. Simply, not much happened in this book. I mean, you could have gone straight from "The Empire Strikes Back" to "Return of the Jedi" without missing a thing. I did enjoy the book, though-and I certainly don't regret reading it.

Book Review: B-O-R-I-N-G!
Summary: 3 Stars

I didn't hate this book or anything, but it just didn't rise tomy expectations. There are many other Star Wars novels that were much, much better. The book just-was boring. I found that I was reading it only to finish it, and was not enjoying it. I noticed that near the end, I simply lost interest in it. It wouldn't be a mistake to read it, but don't begin with high expectations. The new character, Dash Rendar, wasn't likeable or convincing-I found myself rather releived when his ship was blown to pieces.
A much better SW novel is The Courtship of Princess Leia
