Book Review: "channelled" piffle

That Jesus Christ is a great shaman is evident to anyone with any knowledge of shamanic traditions from anywhere in the world. This truth has been totally expunged by the established church to the point where any claim of direct spiritual contact is decried either as delusion or, with alarming inconsistency, satanic influence. So the time is very right for a book on the shamanic nature of Christ and therefore of Christianity as he may have intended it. As a 21st Century English woman I am eager to explore ways that weave shamanic tradition with western spirituality (such as Christianity) with which I am familiar so that I may not have to feel entirely ridiculous whooping around Northumberland trailing feathers and a leather rattle. Sadly this book is no help at all. It is a bunch of prattlings that could have been put together by any 10 year old with an imagination and some Sunday school attendance. It panders to the sloppiest stereotypes of tribal nations. Despite Keeney's apparent credentials as a psychotherapist this book is intellectually lazy, spiritually assinine and contributes nothing to the genuine seeker of truth. This stuff has come straight out of Brad Keeney's head (he admits the fact). It could have come out of my cat's head just as well. Strictly for the so open-minded-that-their-brain-just-fell-out.I really get mad at people who assume they can get away with twaddle just because their subject is metaphysical or New Age. It is not for me to say whether Keeney is an idiot or a charlatan as I have not read any of his other books and will not be doing so anytime soon.
