Book Reviews of SirenaBook Review: GREAT BOOK! From 13-y.o. reader Summary: 5 Stars
Wonderful book, very creative. This book will draw you right in. I couldn't put it down! I have been looking for a book like this for a long time. I recomend it to every one. You'll want to read it again and again! (I did!) There was never a time I just put it down because it was getting boring. Napoli writes wonderfully! A MUST READ!
Book Review: Glorious!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I had wanted to read this book for a really long time, and I finally got it-And I have to tell you, it's the most beautiful love story.Every feeling Sirena experiences sounds all too familiar to me-I often get the smae feelings. But the 12-up age rating is I think a little necessary. I know at a younger age I would have had a really hard time understnading Sirena's yearning for a love-though I understand it perfectly now.Love stroy's such as these are good fro the teenage years-you understnad what Napoli's talking about much better in this stage. Buffs of Greek Mythology will also enjoy all of the classic refernces-such as Hera's wrath-so it's also good fro them(Like me-I'm the biggest fan of Greek Mythology!) Beautiful-the prose and language is so lovely. I'll read it again after I'm done with all the other things I'm reading-It's too beautiful to go without a second, third, fourth, or even fifth reading. I look forward to Napoli's other works! :)
Book Review: Good Children's Literature? You Bet! Summary: 4 Stars
Well, I've read lots of good children's literature in the past, but this is simply outstanding, if you can get past the choppiness of the sentances, I think you'll really enjoy it. Sirena is a moving story about a young mermaid coming of age....
Book Review: Good recommendation Summary: 5 Stars
Donna Jo Napoli's books were recommended to me because I had purchased some Robin McKinley books through them, and I'm glad I took them up on it. I still like both authors, but Napoli's concise style is refreshing in comparison with McKinley's more cumbersome novels. Napoli's sentences did feel choppy and simplistic for about the first page, but I was quickly drawn in to the story and found it easy to connect with emotionally. (I'll even confess to shedding a few tears.) The book also made me want to look further into Greek mythology. Unfortunately I would not recommend the book for the younger end of the "young adult" range, due to some sexual content. But all in all a wonderful story and very well-written.
Book Review: Great Book i read it in one day Summary: 5 Stars
Sirena is a great book. It is very detailed, the romance and the pain. I thought of it to be very good and romantic. Since I am a BIG fan of greek mythology. So I really appericate it, Donna jo Napoli is a great author and should be credited properly ok bye now.
