Book Reviews of SirenaBook Review: Greek mythology romance revisited Summary: 4 Stars
Sirena is a mermaid, born of Eros and a rainbow fish, and, along with her forty nine sisters, she is mortal unless she can gain the love of a mortal man. Sirena, though, is horrified by her song's ability to kill and destroy. Then she saves the life of Philoctetes and gains his love, but will it be enough? Napoli brings a beautiful, sad, and lively voice to mythological characters and story. A well-written, engaging fairy tale about love gained and lost. Grade: A-
Book Review: I cant believe how much I love this book!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is perhaps one of my favorite books and ive read it many many times. Sariena was insightful and i felt as alone as she did at times.her heart is strong and pure when she finally found her true love i found myself to be a bit over zealous of the love between herself and Philoctetes. I now wish to be a writer due to this book. Donna Jo Napolli rocks! Ive also read her book Beast which couldnt be better. I recomend this book to those who are emotional, and mainly girls(sorry guys.)Please read this book it is the perfact starter book for future fantasy and mythology freaks! Like me...Hee...Hee.
Book Review: I cried...it was that good Summary: 5 Stars
Sirena is a mermaid who, with her sisters, long for human love to become immortal. Unfortunately, the only humans that actually get close enough to them end up dead, for the sisters are Sirens, mythical creatures of the sea whose beautiful voices mesmerize sea-faring men and cause them to dash their ships amongst the jagged rocks to die a watery death. One day a ship comes near and Sirena and her sisters sing as usual. The ship crashes and all but 11 men die. When the men realize what has happened, they blame Sirena and her sisters and ultimately kill one of the mermaids. Sirena is sickened and saddened, so she leaves her familiar surroundings to live alone, vowing that she will never sing again. She happens upon an island where a man has been deserted by his crewmates because he was bitten by a sea serpent--sent by Hera--the Queen of the Gods. Sirena ultimately befriends the man, and the two become lovers. Sirena gets her wish to become immortal, but it is here where the trouble begins... I don't wish to give too much more away, but I loved reading this book so very much. If you like stories involving Greek Mythology, I recommend this book.

Book Review: I was expecting something better... Summary: 2 Stars
Well, I love stories about mermaids and I really wanted this book. But I was in for a big disappointment.
Sirena is a mermaid longing for immortality. She can only gain this if a mortal man loves her. After a misfortune on the rocks of Anthomesa, she swims to the island of Lemnos. She then meets a man who has a snake bite. (The snakes were sent by Hera, lady of olumpus.) She cleans the wound, and the two devolpe a love.
I know it sounds interisting, but really, this is not a captivating story. The ending is too ambigous, and she could have extended the story to make it something better, (and tragic.)
I could'nt get past chapter two of the story. It was that boring. I only know what happened because I read the ending and other select bits and piecies.
