Book Review: entertaining with decent information Summary: 3 Stars
I found this book to be very entertaining and the references and sources in the back of the book were helpful. I just disagree with the vegan diet. I think a more balanced approach can work better. This approach as mentioned in books like "The Six-Pack Diet Plan" by Rehan Jalali and the South Beach Diet has worked well for me. I do think their approach is worth a try if you are having trouble losing weight. I did find the information on dairy fairly eye opening.
Book Review: everyone should read it Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up while hanging out at B&N... I was intrigued by the cover and what new crazy "diet plan" these sassy girls had to offer. I figured it would be stupid.
aside from the bad language, this was A GREAT BOOK! I read the whole thing in about 2 hours. I recommend this to anyone trying to get healthier - whether they are looking to be skinny or not! it is not a lame fad diet. it is not a "diet" at all. it presents a lifestyle of healthier food choices & WHY this lifestyle is healthier than all the processed garbage we are used to eating.
I don't think the book was "pushy" or offering any quick-fix easy solution to becoming skinny/healthy. most of it is stuff we already know but don't want to do: eat more fruit, veggies, whole grains, etc. they talk about sugar - why refined & artificial is bad & what choices are better. they go in depth on why meat and dairy aren't good for our bodies & why organic IS really better.
it is an in-your-face, these-are-the-facts, get-over-it-and-eat-healthier type book with a lot of references & lists of alternatives to meat, cheese, dairy & refined sugar. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK.
Book Review: everyone who has the desire to help themselves should read this Summary: 5 Stars
This book is excellent for anyone trying to get healthy. It is very straight forward, and to the point. For me, the humor was unnecessary, but I can see how it makes it an easier read for some. For those complaining that there isn't enough support for why one should go vegan, well you should realize that you must read an entire book dedicated just to that topic to understand. I have read many, and the ones that are recommended at the end of this book have been some of the best. Anyone with a heart, and any logic can figure out for themselves why they should go vegan. This book is very motivating, and has made me even more determined to live as much of a vegan lifestyle as possible. I also appreciate how they explain that carbs are not the devil...its a silly misconception that many Americans have bought into.
In a few words:
BUY THIS BOOK
Book Review: expected way more! Summary: 3 Stars
All the profanity makes it tacky and the strong vegan and vegetarian views are borderline offensive... Just go to the library!
