Book Reviews of Slash

Book Review: Great insight into the GnR saga!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a must read for any GnR fan, let alone any music fan. I enjoyed the book from cover to cover, I read it in a few days, as it was interesting to see what I would learn next. The last few chapters help you understand how personal Slash felt about the GnR band and his attempt to put the chapter behind him. Slash makes music from the heart and writes from it too. Great read, buy it, you'll not be sorry!

Book Review: Great read!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is a great insight into the world of Guns n' Roses - not just Slash (although you definitely will get an earfull about Slash as well). I would suggest this book for any Slash fan or any Guns fan. Or any Rock fan in general.

Book Review: Great stories...bad fact checking and grammar.
Summary: 3 Stars

I truly enjoyed the stories in this book. After all, I was never into music much as a kid, and GnR's "Welcome to the Jungle" sort of broke the ice with me. Since then, I've been not only a music fan, but a musician and an 80's rock fanatic.

To read the stories presented in this book (even though I believe there's more of the writer than Slash in those words) really filled in some gaps in the knowledge I had about GnR. A lot of stuff I wasn't aware of went on (obviously), and it was very entertaining to read about all of their adventures.

What I didn't enjoy was the skipping of page numbers, the missing sentences, and the bad grammar. There were also lots of tense problems, and in one section when Slash talked about playing with Cinderella's Fred Curry...well, it's Fred Coury. How's about a little fact checking?

From a book put out by this publisher, I expected more. Seems to be the case these days...more and more books are coming out with spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and a general lack of fact checking.

If you can get past the problems, this is a great read. Can't wait to see Slash on tour next time!

Book Review: Guitar God tells some but probably not all
Summary: 5 Stars

Better written than I would have expected, interesting and informative about GNR and his life. What really makes this so much different from Eric Clapton's book or Nikki Sixx's trip through the hell of his own mind is that Slash never seems to have been unhappy or angry to have regrets. He did all the drugs, alcohol and sex for fun and because he is easily bored. This makes the book much more fun for the reader. Is he being truthful, private or shallow? Hard to say, but you can also see how he must have helped drive Axl crazy. On the other hand you can see that Slash would have been happier if he had a front man who wanted to tour all the time.

Book Review: Heck of a life
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is definitely worth the read, If you like Rock-u-mentry type books it's a must have.
