My feelings toward Slightly Dangerous are very much in accord with another reviewer on here who said that they were torn between two very driving, and opposite forces. On one hand you have a very entertaining story, with interesting characters, and the author certainly knows how to play with dialogue and really immerse you into the story. All of these characteristics were simply great. I loved Christine as a character, as much as I did Wulfric and they brought the story alive with their comical interactions with one another.
However, and it is a big however... If you are looking for a very passionate book with sizzling sexual attraction between two characters, then this story is lacking. One of the largest problems I had with the book was that, while the pages were filled with the author's reassurance that there was a passion, that there was a sexual tension, I simply did not feel that there was. Instead, I was simply repeatedly told by word that there was an attraction, rather than experiencing it through the actions of the characters.
After the first love scene, I very much agree that it was considered cold. Dispassionate. There was no sizzling passion, no suffocating sexual tension between the two. They simply did the act, and went on their way. But then, shortly afterward, I was once again told that the act---by great surprise to my senses---was to be considered sizzling and passionate!
And therein lies my mixed feelings for the book. I do believe Balogh is a great author who knows how to play mischievously with her witty dialogue and entertain a reader with humor and great situations, but with it being a romance book I am very sad to say that I simply was not feeling the romance up to par! I want to see for my own eyes the passion and the tension that these two were supposed to be having, not being told that it was there.
