Book Reviews of Slim for LifeBook Review: Great book!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book. She really gives you a healthy diet and motivates you to eat well. It is difficult to find all of the ingredients, but you make do. I had to substitute some of the beans. You can eat as much as you want of the right food. So if your hungry afterwards, you can eat more salad, fruit, etc. The first two days were hard, but after that, I felt great. I was not hungry, and I felt very healthy. I have already lost a few inches and pounds. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get healthy. This is not a book for someone looking for a quick weigh loss fad diet.
Book Review: Great recipes Summary: 5 Stars
This book is full of great recipes and information about how different foods effect you. I have tried quite a few recipes and enjoyed every one of them. It's amazing how fruits and vegetables can change how you feel. It's a right now good feeling. It's wonderful. Actually I feel as if a huge load has been taken off my shoulders. The foods good and I feel good...it's all I can say. This is a must have book.
Book Review: If you like to cook... Summary: 4 Stars
This book not only brings awareness to the garbage you consume in a week, but will hone your skills as a cook. If you are someone who does not like to cook-or has no spare time, this book is not for you. All of the recipes are not very specific with times and temperatures-so you have to familiar with various cooking times for different foods. For example-in one of the recipes Dr. McKeath says to pop a sweet potato in the oven while you're preparing a salad. How long and what temp. are never included. Unless you're familiar with baking potatoes, how would you know what to do? Also, the measurements can be tricky. In the U.S., we don't typically measure ingredients by weight-unless you're a pastry chef-I don't think many people reading this book are. Do you know what 2 1/2 oz. of lentils looks like? I don't, but I guestimate. I think it's a little over a 1/4 cup. All that said, the food definitely increases energy, and has has made me less moody.(After the chocolate cravings stopped). The smoothies are fantastic, too. If you like to cook, this book is for you. It exposed me to new methods of cooking, and new ingredients. It really made me take a good look at my eating lifestyle and changed it for the better.
Book Review: Impressed with the book Summary: 4 Stars
I was very impressed with this book and happy that I bought it. I was recently put on a restrictive diet and this book fit perfectly. The directions were spelled out on what to do and how to do it and that is exactly what I needed!! Loved it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because some of the ingredients have been tough to find in my local supermarket. I would still recommend this book if you are looking to get healthy and try a new way of eating.
Book Review: Not a Diet, a whole new life Summary: 5 Stars
I am a Nutritionist myself and I love Gillian McKeith's whole philosophy about healthy living and eating. She combines the best nutrition information with behavior modification techniques to help people actually follow the advice she gives. We all know what we "should do", getting help with the implementation is key. A big thumbs up for this beautiful book.
