Book Review: A great book
Summary: 4 Stars

I read this book maybe a year ago, but I have never forgotten the wonderful plots and characters of it. I really really loved this book, because it takes you inside the world of drugs, love, growing up, and addiction. One thing I also enjoyed was that it was a British book, and the terms used in it, such as "squats". I was sad to read the last page, because I wanted the book to keep going, but I never forgot the last line, with Tar speaking, something about what his doctor said. Ahh it was great. I definantly recommend this book!

Book Review: A great book....

I througholy enjoyed reading this book. It gave you a look into the life of a drug addict... but let you decide what you thought. No sappy conclusions or anything. Excellent!

Book Review: A must for reading enthusiasts.
Summary: 5 Stars

Earth shattering book. I read this when I was 14. Changed. My. Life. I credit this one book for my total avoidance of drugs and running away as a teen. You follow this cast of herion-addicted characters as they sink further and further into an addiction. Tar runs away from home leaving behind his heart broken girlfriend, Gemma. She follows him and it's this twisted tale of both character's self destruction. They meet some friends who ultimately introduce them to herion. The story is so well written, you can visualize the 80's punk scene very well. It's much darker than movies like SLC Punk where drugs are more of an afterthought and it's more about the "punk". This book is more focused on the drugs and the punk culture is more of a background. Each character struggles with who they are but not in an after-school special kind of way. Fortunately this book doesn't paint a stereotypical happy ending. That's not true of most herion addicts so why should it be true of the book? The ending is a clean ending, you aren't left wondering about anything. I just wish it was in eBook format so I could obsessively read it on the metro.

Book Review: A must read

So I was in English class and it just so happened we had to pick out a book to read with some odd number of fellow classmates. Group reading as you would call it. So I searched online for sometime checking out teen book lists and such and I came across Smack, and it sounded like a good book. So we (my group and I) ordered enough copies for all of us and I delved into it very quickly. I read it in about two days to a week. Anyway it was heartfelt not only that but believable and not cheesy as you might imagine. I have an aunt that has been down that same road except with crack and trust me methodone and trying to reaccept that person into your family is very hard. I mean you never know when to trust them. This book raises all issues and gives you outside veiws as well as views/opinions of the addicts themselves I would recommend this to any teenager and adults as well. It should be required to read in school in my opinion. If you though GO Ask Alice was great or real and strongly written then you must read this!

Book Review: A must read!

I started reading this book, bcuz my Cusin told me how good it was.. Its starts off kinda slow, but its well worth it in the end.. I know plenty of ppl that have been addicted to most drugs, Heroin being one of them. The Author got the whole thing down pat.. Like he'd been in the shoes of an addict.. I couldnt put the book down.. i have to say there is always somthing interestin in books about drug users.. Tar and Gemma started out using at 14.. so young, the best part is when everyone got clean.. Lily and Rob couldnt do it for their baby but Gemma made sure she could do it for hers.. The sad part is.. Tar and Gemma didnt work out.. And if you go on the Authors site.. he tells ya what happen to the ppl after the book was sed and done, because it is based upon real ppl.. Tar is still a struggaling addict but he gets married.. Gemma stays clean.. Rob and Lily Split.. They stay clean Rob gets married and has more kids with his New wife.. And Richard died in a car wreck before the book was even finished.. It captured me and help me til the very end.. I would read it over and over again..
