Book Reviews of SnuffBook Review: not his best Summary: 2 Stars
The quality of this story is a far cry from CHOKE. But, as usual Chuck's style makes you want to keep turning the page. You simply don't know how disappointing the end is going to be until you get there. Maybe it's just me, but as I read I kept expecting more from this book. I kept thinking it was going to go somewhere. But it never went anywhere. As I said, you will keep turning the pages; it's just that at the end you'll wonder why you did. Hopefully for you this is not your first Palahniuk book. The others are way better. Trust me.
Book Review: not his best work! Summary: 3 Stars
... it might not be in the top 10 of his works. Better than "Haunted" but not near as good as "Rant." I have read every Chuck novel and will read everyone he puts out. Fight Club, Choke, and Survivor and my favorites. If you haven't read those novels yet, then read them first. If you still need more Chuck after those, then give this one a try.
Book Review: phoned in Summary: 1 Stars
He phoned this in, wrote it while he was doing something else. Pardon the pun but not up to "snuff" at all. I bought it, read it and returned it. Normally I would pass it on to my friend who loves Palahniuk as well, but I couldnt, I didnt even want it on my bookshelf. The porn doesnt bother me, I was just dissappointed. This book wasnt the ride, the charachter rollercoaster, the slap in the face that I expect from Chuck. It was boring, and I fear he was using the porn for shock value to cover for it. Anyway, maybe he was on vacation, or had a quota to fill with a publisher breathing down his neck. We all see authors, actors, directors, musicians etc call it in just to get it done. I can let one slide. but this had better not be a pattern, I will be seriously disappointed.
